BYD Launches Upgraded 2027 Seal 06 Featuring Lidar Technology

On August 11, 2026, BYD officially launched its upgraded 2027 Seal 06, showcasing notable advancements in technology and performance. A key highlight of the new model is the integration of lidar technology, which is embedded in the roof and windshield, enhancing the vehicle's autonomous driving capabilities. This upgrade is part of BYD's God's Eye B Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), an improvement over the previous model's God's Eye C system, which did not include lidar.
The 2027 Seal 06 will be available in both pure electric and plug-in hybrid variants. While the pricing for the new model has not been officially announced, it is expected to be similar to the 2026 model, which was priced at 109,800 yuan (approximately $16,273). This competitive pricing strategy, combined with the technological enhancements, positions the Seal 06 to appeal to a broader audience.
In terms of performance, the 2027 model boasts increased power output, with figures rising from 110 kW and 160 kW in the 2026 version to 120 kW and 240 kW in the new release. This increase in power is likely to attract consumers looking for a more dynamic driving experience.
The interior of the 2027 Seal 06 has also received praise for its luxurious design, featuring amenities such as a mini fridge, which enhances comfort and convenience for passengers. Although opinions on the exterior design vary, the overall feedback suggests that the interior quality is among the best in its class.
BYD has enjoyed significant success with the Seal 06, having sold over half a million units last year. With the introduction of the 2027 model and its array of upgrades, the company aims to surpass this figure in 2027. The Seal 06 is recognized as one of the most popular electric vehicles globally, and the enhancements could further boost BYD's sales, both in China and internationally.
As the electric vehicle market continues to evolve, the launch of the 2027 BYD Seal 06 represents a strategic move by BYD to maintain its competitive edge. The integration of advanced technologies like lidar could not only enhance the driving experience but also contribute to the broader adoption of electric vehicles worldwide.
